CLASS News
LIVE OAK – MS. CHURCH
The last week of school before summer! Both children and teachers are getting just a bit antsy!
We had a busy time finishing up our works and touching up art projects for Ms. Owens’ art show last week. The children also worked hard on special gifts for Father’s Day.
We have had several children visit the classroom in preparation for joining our Live Oak class. It is great to see how everyone is fitting in so well!
We had a wonderful End of Year Tea on Thursday, prepared by the children who also set the tables and decorated with flowers and candles. It was a very special and solemn moment when everyone took turns blowing out their individual candles.
Friday, we had the most fun and excitement of all at the all-school picnic! It was great to see so many parents there, and the food was absolutely delicious! Thank you to all who attended and brought food to share!
It has been such a special year with all of the Live Oak children. We are looking forward to the summer program and all the new friends who will join us over the next 3 months. Thank you to all our parents who helped our days become a little sunnier, and especially thank you for entrusting a piece of your lives with us.
It has been such a privilege to get to know not just your children, but all the parents who have been so kind and supportive; it’s what makes our jobs do-able and so worthwhile. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I love you all and will miss those of you who are leaving! ~ Anne Wenstad
I will miss all of the Live Oak children, and other children, who are moving on to different schools. I have watched you grow, and have had the privilege to keep you in my care. It is always hard for me to say good-bye, and after wiping away my tears, I have learned that saying good-bye is a pathway to new beginnings. I wish all of you happiness, love, peace and joy. And may you keep the door to learning always open! ~ Dee Dee Bright
There are days when I sit back and cannot believe that THIS is my job – being part of these children’s lives and watching them discover the world. And then there are days when I sit back and say, “THIS is my job??!” :> Really though, the former outweighs the latter a thousand to one. I have had a wonderful year. Thank you. ~ Missy Church
GINKGO – MS. NITONDE
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the school year! It seems like only yesterday the year was just beginning! Our class grew from 18 to 24 children during the course of the year!
Thank you for the incredible support of all the parents who participated in different activities for and in our class, especially our Room Parent, Cindy Fressola!
We will be saying farewell to the following students and their families: Burkina Faso Hailu-Montag, Eli Martin-Brown, Kennedy and Morgan Mason, Finn Michener, and Aviv Ratinsky. We wish you all the best!
Congratulations to the children who have completed their kindergarten year in our class and are continuing their education in other schools!
It has been a pleasure to be your child’s teacher and we will think of you all fondly as you pursue your lives. Please visit us or send a postcard when you can!
Happy birthday to Robel and Lucia who both turned 4 years old last week! Thank you to Robel’s mom for bringing the Ethiopian bread for snack, and singing the wonderful Ethiopian birthday song! Thank you to Lucia’s family for sharing strawberry shortcake with us, and for the books they gave the class!
Thank you also to Eli’s mom and Campbell’s dad for reading to the children. We heard some great stories including “The Wind in The Willows”, “Rip Squeak and His Friends”, and “Favorite Bedtime Tales”.
Campbells’ mom came to the class to help the children make a very special gift for a very special Ginkgo person (can’t tell any more without ruining the surprise!).
With the teachers, the children are working on special projects for Father’s Day (again, we can’t tell any more without ruining the surprise!).
We enjoyed a wonderful tea party on Tuesday, and had the chance to say good-bye to children not returning. The Ginkgo children took a big role in preparing for the party, from decorating to food prep! We all had a great time discussing the past year and eating by candlelight. Thank you to the children and parents for provided the ingredients and decorations
Dear parents, we would like you to know that it has been a rewarding experience for the three of us (Ms. Nitonde, Ms. Mc Clindon, and Ms. Yang) and a privilege to spend time with your children. Thank you for all your hard work and support during the past nine 1/2 months. Have a wonderful and exciting summer!
MAGNOLIA – MS. OLIVARES
What a wonderful year it has been! The children had a great time at their tea party. They were busy all morning cutting fruit, making sandwiches, decorating cookies, and arranging flowers. It has been an enormous honor to watch your children grow and become independent and capable.
A HUGE thank you to Terry Sandoval and Sherri La Beaux-Vine for being such excellent Room Parents! We could not have had such a successful year without them!
Thank you to Julie Severet for supplying us with pet food all year long! The animals appreciated it!
Thank you to Lea Banducci who did all the shopping for all our special events!
Thank you to Teresa Butner who kept us in milk and bread for our daily snacks!
Thank you to Margaret Reeves for cleaning the animal cages EVERY week! The TEACHERS are very grateful!!
Have a great summer, everyone!
CAMELLIA – MS. ALLEN
We can’t believe summer is almost here! This is Mr. Tien’s 3rd week in the Camellia class. Everything seems new to him, and he’s working on remembering the children’s names, first and last!
Everyone was very excited that Ms. Allen came to visit and say hello during our End of the Year Celebration on Wednesday, although the toddlers kept telling Ms. Allen it was her birthday! The children continued to ask about the baby; “Is the baby here yet?”, “What is the baby’s name?”. Will repeatedly patted Ms. Allen’s belly and queried, “Is there really a baby in there?”
Ms. Allen thanks all the children and their families for the kind End of Year/Happy Maternity gift!
Thank you to Sarah, Jamie’s mom, for bringing her famous ice cream chocolate sauce recipe! We can’t wait! It’s a pity Mr. Tien will be gone with the elementary class on their camping trip when we make it! Ms. Owens will be filling in while he is absent and will receive his portion of ice cream!
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful year! Have a terrific summer!
MULBERRY – MS. AIMA
Our school year is coming to an end! This Wednesday Ms. Allen will join us for our End of the Year Celebration, where we’ll have ice cream sundaes and talk about where the children will be in the summer and fall. We are asking parents to take home blankets, nap sets, extra clothes bags, and all items from cubbies, so we can do a thorough cleaning.
Thank you to Alma Prins for doing our class laundry!
This week’s favorite song is the “Umpa Umpa Bubble Gum” song:
My mother gave me a penny so I could buy some candy, but instead I bought bubble gum. Umpa Umpa Bubble Gum.
My mother gave me a nickel so I could buy a pickle but instead I bought bubble gum. Umpa Umpa Bubble Gum.
My mother gave me a dime so I could buy a lime but instead I bought bubble gum. Umpa Umpa Bubble Gum (and so on…).
Thank you to all our parents for their support and help this past year!
We hope everyone has a wonderful summer.
JUNIPER - MS. KOERBER
Our class was the winner of the Pennies for Patients fund drive pizza party! We raised the most money, thanks to all who contributed, and to the elementary class for the great idea of participating in the worthy fundraiser!
Please clear out your child’s cubby and your Parent Cubby, and take home your child’s slippers, nap-set, and extra clothing, unless your child will be here during the summer program. If your child will be here, please be sure that there are warm weather clothes, and something of everything for a complete change (lots of water play during the summer months!).
Thank you to Ella’s mom, Michelle, for reading us two fun stories, “Duck on a Bike” and “Love is a Family”!
We will have our End of Year Cultural Day this Thursday. Class members are encouraged to dress in clothing from their individual cultures, and to bring food, also from their culture, for 12 people. We are all looking forward to the wonderful costumes and tasty treats! We appreciate all the efforts of our parents to help make this a successful event!
With the school year nearly at an end, the Juniper class would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful parents who have been so generous, helpful, and supportive this year!
Have a wonderful summer!
JACARANDA – MS. LECK
The Jacaranda class had a tea party on Tuesday, marking the end of the school year. Tables lined up to form one long “formal” table, tablecloth, plates, cups, cut flowers, and good food gave the children a forum on which to share their summer and fall plans. The children each blew out their individual candles, and sat patiently while their friends took their turns and then enjoyed this last formal event together.
Overheard on the yard, an almost-five year old to another Jacaranda class member, sadly, “Almost it’s time to go to college, and I’m going to miss my mommy”!!
Thank you to Cheryl Davis for the new towels, which are always needed as the children are thorough cleaners in the classroom.
Enjoy your summer and your futures, everyone!
REDWOOD – MS. RANKINS
It is the end of the school year again! It is amazing to see how far the children have come in the past 9 months! How they have grown! I am saddened to say that the two eldest girls, Alexandra and Samantha, are moving on to middle school! The only downside to teaching children for several years is having to say good-bye! I will miss both of them very much!
Thank you to:
§Celeste Grinage, you were the BEST Room Parent we’ve ever had!
§Caroline Paddock, for making the Scholastic Book program successful!
§Diana Fong and Stephen Lee for all the aquarium supplies!
§Michael Roosevelt for allowing our class to participate in “Continuing Dialog: The Aftermath of Brown vs. Board of Education”. It was truly an honor to be part of this momentous event!
§ Susan Abrahamson for always being our Parent Chaperone!
§ And thank you to all of the parents for allowing us the wonderful opportunity to work with and teach your children!
I hope everyone has a great summer. I will miss you all!
