So far, it has been a fun, interesting, and busy summer! We had a visit from Francis of the S.F. Insect Discovery Lab. She brought a fascinating array of bugs for the children to hold (UGH!), including a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, a Walking Stick, a Florida Lubber Grasshopper (Lubber means lazy - they don't hop!) and a Giant Millipede!

We also saw the Amazing Bubble Man, Louis Pearl. Mr. Pearl can blow bubbles from any device, including his fingers, produce candy bubbles, and even made bubbles big enough for a child (and Mr. Tien) to stand in!
Every week the children have all been enjoying the clay studio with Ms. Basom in the arbor, water play on the lawns with their classmates, and jumping in the jumper every other week.

We have lots more exciting events and activities planned for you!
Here is the calendar of upcoming all-school assemblies:
Wednesday, July 28, 10 am - Leopards, Etc.
Thursday, August 5, 10 am - Jeremy the Juggler
Tuesday, August 10, 10 am - Wizard School of Magic

Leopards, Etc. is an organization that offers a unique combination of fun and education about the plight of vanishing wildlife on our planet, in particular, large cats. They bring five selected wild cats right to our school. Students watch them, un-caged and up-close, as each cat's habits, habitat and survival are explained in a dynamic presentation. While not a circus act, natural behaviors like climbing, leaping and hunting are demostrated. This is an all-school assembly, starting at 10:00 in the Magnolia classroom. If you are late, please enter the classroom QUIETLY through the church sanctuary doors, and sit down immediately in the back.

The Jumper will be here on Tuesday, July 20, Monday, August 2, and Friday, August 20.

We had planned the water play activities in the mornings but the weather has not been too cooperative. When the temperature is below 70 degrees and the skies cloudy we've been waiting till the afternoon to get wet. Hopefully the sunny, warm mornings are on their way, Until then we will continue water play in the afternoons.
