Mr. Bissonnette was born in Oakland, California, but grew up in Japan. He attended a variety of schools there, including a Montessori pre-school, a Japanese public school, and a private international school. Daniel’s career in education began as a public middle school math teacher in Oakland, where he started looking for the most effective way to teach children and in his search found Montessori Education. After earning his AMI teaching credentials from 3-18 and teaching at the Primary and Elementary levels, he has seen that Montessori Pedagogy is the best equipped to meet the developmental needs of children in their different stages of life. Daniel also has his CA state teaching and administrative credentials and an MS in Educational Leadership. Daniel joined GLM in 2013, leading a Primary classroom for three years and later, founded and lead GLM’s Elementary program in 2016. In 2015, Daniel and his wife Mariana stared Arc Montessori, a company that looks to support teachers, parents, and schools in implementing practices that best support a child’s needs and allows students to meet their full potential from birth through high school. Arc Montessori is currently looking to start public Montessori schools in Oakland to bring high fidelity Montessori program to more students in our community. In his free time Daniel enjoys spending time in the outdoors with Mariana (his wife), Solina and Harumoto (his children), and Moose and Sequoia (his dogs).
Hands down, this is a special place on earth and despite the good and bad that comes with disruption in this world for children, I feel good knowing my boys built a good foundation at GLM.
GLM has been a magical place and a transformative experience for my grand daughters!
We are so happy that she can return to GLM. We miss it so much. It is truly a uniquely wonderful school.
