Ms. Singletary was born in California and is a proud Oakland native. She has worked with children since she was a teenager, assisting at a home day care where she would serve snack and lead some of the activities. When she was eighteen, she began working for the city of Oakland as a camp counselor. This experience was very rewarding for her and she worked for the city for two years. In 2007, she was introduced to the Montessori method and was highly impressed with the children’s ability to utilize their independence in a prepared environment. It was then that she began working for Grand Lake Montessori, and she is so pleased to continue on in this community as a floating support teacher. She is currently working on her B.A. in Business at SF State and has also taken classes in Child Development and Montessori curriculum. When she is not at GLM, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering at local community events.
Hands down, this is a special place on earth and despite the good and bad that comes with disruption in this world for children, I feel good knowing my boys built a good foundation at GLM.
GLM has been a magical place and a transformative experience for my grand daughters!
We are so happy that she can return to GLM. We miss it so much. It is truly a uniquely wonderful school.
