Grand Lake Montessori, founded in 1978, is a thriving and well respected learning community in Oakland, California, serving approximately 160 families. Our school has two toddler, five primary environments, and one 6-12 Elementary classroom on almost two acres of beautiful green space in the heart of the Grand Lake Neighborhood. Montessori Trained Primary Teacher

The Primary Teacher’s job is to prepare and maintain a Montessori Primary environment and to implement a Montessori Primary Program. The information that follows outlines the essential functions for this position in all aspects and areas of your teaching responsibilities. The ability to work independently, as well as with others, are two of the many essential functions of this position.

This position reports to the Head of School and shares responsibility with all staff members for creating a culture of accountability and for taking ownership of the results we achieve as an educational institution

This person must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, AMI or AMS Montessori Primary Teaching Certificate, or be in the process of obtaining one.

Teachers must be prepared to effectively manage a classroom, support staff, and their immediate community. Additionally Teachers

  • Must exude leadership qualities
  • Manage Classroom staff
  • Must communicate well with parents/guardians
  • Must possess basic knowledge of licensing/Title 22 regulation
  • Must willing to submit to a Livescan Background check

Montessori Trained Toddler Teacher

The Toddler Teacher’s job is to prepare and maintain a Montessori Toddler environment . The information that follows outlines the essential functions for this position in all aspects and areas of your teaching responsibilities.
