Grand Lake Montessori, founded in 1978, is a thriving urban school in the Grand Lake neighborhood of Oakland, California. We serve approximately 175 families and our school has two toddler classrooms, six primary (preschool) classrooms and one elementary classroom. Our school is on almost two acres of beautiful green space in the heart of the Grand Lake Neighborhood. We are currently looking for a 3-6 Montessori trained teacher to lead one of our primary classrooms. As this is a later start in the school year, there will be scaffolding and onboarding support provided by GLM’s Lead of Instruction. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Montessori Primary (3-6) training and certification
  • Previous experience leading a Primary environment
  • Highly motivated
  • Professional, prompt and punctual
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with others
  • Ability to build and maintain a safe, harmonious and strong classroom environment and culture
  • Ability to guide and work collaboratively with the existing support teachers and build a strong teaching team
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build warm, strong, professional relationships with students and families
